The numbers, as they say, don’t lie and it was revealing to compare the Women’s College World Series TV ratings with those of the Men’s College World Series where Virginia defeated Vanderbilt on Wednesday.
Softball won this battle over baseball easily, as the average for the three-game series was 31.17 percent higher for the ladies with the bats.
In both sports, the viewership increased for each game with the deciding contest in softball between Florida and Michigan drawing over 2.2 million viewers.
And each of the three nights set a record as the most watched Women’s College World Series Final game ever on ESPN; the first night’s Florida win of 1.542 viewers topped the 2009 Washington/Florida game which had 1.412 million viewers.
