The Loyola Marymount softball team continues to have a stellar start to its season, as the team picked up its third consecutive win on Saturday, as the Lions (3-0) beat Northwestern 3-2 at the Titan Classic in Fullerton, Calif.

"Again, I was really pleased with our pitching staff," said head coach Sami Strinz-Ward. "They were all dialed in pretty well and they were getting swings and misses from a strong Power Five opponent. Maddie Flores' last three at-bats were huge in helping us secure the win. It was a very nice team effort that our women were able to grind out."

Samantha Manti got three strikeouts in 1.1 innings, picking up her second consecutive win as a Lion, while Hannah Bandimere pitched three innings with just one unearned run. 

The Lions picked up their first run in the first inning, one in the fifth and ended the game with a walk-off hit from Megan Dedrick, Sierra Marshall and Andrea Gonzalez put two of the runs on the board for the Lions. 

Flores had an outstanding game, as she went 2-3 with an RBI, a home run and a double off of the fence, while Dedrick went 2-4 with an RBI. 

LMU's run in the first inning broke Northwestern's season-opening streak of 19.1 scoreless innings.
