Louisville Slugger Hit Club Spotlight: Tannon Snow

From August 1-3, 2015, we were able to see 10 of the top hitters in softball on and off the field as part of the Louisville Slugger Hit Club.

The three-day event included activities like an on-field competition, trips to Disneyland and a Dodgers vs. Angels MLB game and hearing from softball dignitaries such as Sue Enquist, Jessica Mendoza plus Jen Schroeder, Katie Schroeder and Morgan Stuart of The Package Deal and renowned sports psychiatrist Ken Ravizza.

The 10 talented players, who graduated high school this summer and are heading off this month to major universities across the country, are all advanced hitters and over the next two weeks we’re going to profile one of these standouts each day (in random order).

We’re halfway home through the 10 Hit Club standouts with today’s profile, which takes us to California where we meet a record-setting power hitter who is as nice off the field as she is dangerous on it…

HIT CLUB:

Award: Power Stroke
Roommate: Amanda Lorenz (Florida)
Favorite event/activity of LS Hit Club & why: “The speakers were amazing and extremely informative. I liked them a lot because they are definitely going to help me with college and life afterwards.”
One key takeaway you learned/will use: “One thing Sue (Enquist) kept telling us was to take ownership of your mistakes and get one percent better every day.’”
Funniest person of group: “Reagan Dykes (Alabama).”
Best memory of event: “These three days will be the best memory! I really enjoyed everything and learned so much from the speakers.”
Hit Club scouting report: Tannon is best described by another Hit Club player who said, “With all her success you would never know it, she is so selfless and kind.” But, wow, on the field with a bat in her hands she is amazingly special. Perhaps no one in the last five years or more in club ball has exploded exponentially as much as Tannon did offensively during her high school and club years. She is a pure power hitter who’s amazingly accurate with her stroke too—Tannon not surprisingly finished 3rd in the home run derby, but also took top honors in the target practice drill where balls hit into certain nets would receive points meaning she can place the ball as well as crush it. What’s even more enjoyable, she is incredibly likable and—you hate to use this word but it really fits—sweet. Tannon is the coveted athlete who combines great physical tools with a winning personality and will be a dream for the Husky coaches and a leader in the clubhouse.

“It has a great atmosphere that I would like to be in with a beautiful campus and outstanding coaches.”

What factors led to your choice?
