Washington softball's swan song in the Pac-12 Conference is upon us, and as the crown jewel of a strong softball conference, the Huskies have served the league well.

The past few months have been like a roller coaster ride for River Mahler. After batting .569 with 18 RBI and 33 runs scored as a freshman for Monroe (Washington) High, the 5-foot-8 left-handed-hitting shortstop had high expectations for her sophomore year.

The 2018 season was a bittersweet one for [team:Washington] Huskies catcher [person:Morganne Flores]. The team marched all the way to the WCWS championship series, where they lost 8-3 to eventual champion Florida State.

In 2005, Dennis Muir, Tony Campos, and Warren Hall started the Northwest Bullets. This team of coaches wanted to provide a program for players from the Northwest that would allow them to train and play on the national stage. Campos added, “The purpose of the team was to bring together the best athletes in the northwest, to develop their skills and prepare them to play on a national stage and be recruited by top programs.”

Gabbie Plain traveled nearly 8,000 miles from her home in Sydney, Australia to Seattle to play college softball at the University of Washington. Plain moved away from the people she knew and loved, her friends, and the lifestyle she had grown up with to the other side of the world. Her recruiting process started really late in her final year of high school.

Today we spotlight one of the top players in the 2018 class, a softball star who is also a standout in another sport and was discovered who was simply because a college coach saw stadium lights at night and decided to check out the game… and he heard this recruit’s voice before he ever saw her play!

A team from Snohomish, Washington- that had all but dominated the Little League Softball World Series in Portland, Oregon- got an almost instant dose of Karma after being eliminated today for game-fixing.

From August 1-3, 2015, we were able to see 10 of the top hitters in softball on and off the field as part of the Louisville Slugger Hit Club.
